The National Eagle Leadership Institute® (NELI) and CareerFOCUS Magazine™
proudly announce the selection of 16 corporate leaders scheduled to receive
the CareerFOCUS Eagle Award™ on Friday, November 14, 2008 at 16th Annual
CareerFOCUS Eagle Awards Gala at Chicago's Westin Michigan Avenue Hotel.
This year's winners will join a network of more than 250 Eagle Award
recipients recognized for outstanding leadership achievement since the award
launched in 1993.
The CareerFOCUS Eagle Award™ is one of corporate America's highest accolades
in executive leadership achievement. It recognizes Black/African-American
and Hispanic/Latino professionals who excel in both corporate and community
leadership. NELI and CareerFOCUS Magazine™, "The Magazine Leaders Read,"
present this annual award to individuals who practice principled leadership
and whose records of performance uphold the highest standards of dignity,
integrity, and honor.
More than an individual award, the CareerFOCUS Eagle Award™ underscores
corporate America's growing commitment to acknowledge higher standards of
leadership. Winners are nominated by chief executives-most often their
chairman, president, or CEO-demonstrating just how valuable their leadership
has been to the bottom line. "The Eagle Award invites companies to extend
the recognition of talent beyond the walls of their businesses and into the
national forefront," said Georgia L. Clark, founder and president of the
National Eagle Leadership Institute and publisher of CareerFOCUS Magazine.
"It's an opportunity to deliver on the promise of diversity and inclusion
while also supporting the business imperative for developing, recognizing
and retaining top leadership." Clark explained.
Receiving the CareerFOCUS Eagle Award is both a privilege and a
responsibility. Eagle Award winners accept a two-year appointment to NELI's
Eagle Roundtable Advisory Council through which they are instantly connected
to a national network of leaders-all of whom are past Eagle Award
recipients. In an effort to help build the next generation of leaders,
Eagle Award winners become advisors to NELI's Corporate Bound Academy™
Leadership Challenge where they inform, influence and inspire college
students poised for corporate leadership.
This year's winners were evaluated by a 17-member selection committee
comprised of alumni Eagle Award winners. Along with receiving the Eagle
Award on November 14, CareerFOCUS Magazine will feature all of this year's
winners and their nominating companies in the November/December 2008
edition.
About NELI:
The National Eagle Leadership Institute® (NELI) is a premier
leadership development network for Black/African-American and
Hispanic/Latino professionals and college students. NELI was launched in
1995 in response to corporate America's increasing focus on leadership and
diversity in the workplace. The Institute's programs help recognize,
recruit, and retain professionals who set a higher standard of leadership.
Our Mission is to Help You Lead.
About CareerFOCUS Magazine:
The Eagle Awards were launched by CareerFOCUS
Magazine in 1993 to recognize professionals like those who grace its
pages-men and women who lead with extraordinary results but whose
contributions rarely receive national praise. In 1995, CareerFOCUS
established the National Eagle Leadership Institute to support the
recognition, recruitment and retention of Black and Hispanic executives.
