Sharon C. Taylor

Sharon C. Taylor is senior vice president, Corporate Human Resources, chair of The Prudential Foundation and a member of Prudential’s Senior Management Committee. Taylor is the top human resources (HR) officer reporting to the chairman and is accountable for HR policies, strategies, programs and infrastructure that support Prudential’s domestic and international businesses.

She chairs several key committees, such as the Human Resources Policy Committee and the Investment Oversight Committee. She is also accountable for Community Resources, which includes oversight of The Prudential Foundation, and the company’s social investments and local initiative programs.

Prior to Taylor’s current appointment, she served as corporate vice president, Human Resources accountable for leading Human Resources 13 centers of excellence. Taylor’s tenure in this role was marked by improved operating efficiency, customer services and significantly reduced expenses. She has also served as corporate vice president, Human Resources and ethics officer for Prudential’s domestic insurance group and vice president, Human Resources for Prudential Financial’s Operations and Systems group.

With more than thirty years in the business world, Lou is currently Vice President-National Business Field Sales for EMBARQ (formerly Sprint) responsible for Business Markets Sales in 18 states. Lou's telecommunications includes executive assignments in personnel and public relations, marketing and sales, revenue planning, and customer service while being named Vice President of Operations in 1991. Lou joined Sprint's Local Telecommunications Division in 1993 as Director of Carrier Marketing and later served as Director of Marketing and Sales. In 1997, he served as Director of Sales for the Consumer Markets Group in Florida. Lou became Vice President-Customer Service Operations in 2001 until he was named to his current position in 2005.

His involvement in business partnerships and community organizations include serving on the Boards of Directors for Junior Achievement, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Business Initiative Fund (HBIF), AvMed, YMCA, and INROADS. He is also very active in promoting cultural diversity through his leadership in the National Eagle Leadership Institute (NELI), support of the Alliance Council at Sprint, and his facilitation of diversity seminars across the state of Florida.

Lou has received several very prestigious awards. He received the Mayor Glenda E. Hood Focused Vision Award for his diversity awareness and development in the community, and also the “Professional of the Year” award which was presented by the Hispanic Business Initiative Fund and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida. In 2006, Lou was profiled and appeared in a TV segment on Univision as well as on Telemundo. He was also named Honorary Chair of the American Cancer Society’s Relevo Por La Vida de Orlando, as well as Chair of the 2006 Don Quijote Committee.

Lou holds a bachelor's degree in business management from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and a master's degree in business administration from Baldwin-Wallace College in Ohio. He and his wife of more than 30 years, Nicza, are the proud parents of two daughters, Stefanie and Melinda, and a son, Jesse.
